Green hydrogen facility with solar panels and a refinery in the background.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Sembcorp’s joint venture, NeuEN Green Energy, has secured a deal to supply green hydrogen to Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL). The agreement marks a significant step in India’s push towards green energy and decarbonization.
Under the terms of the deal, NeuEN Green Energy will supply 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually to NRL. To facilitate this, a new green hydrogen production facility will be established in Assam, with operations slated to commence in 2028. This project aligns with NRL’s decarbonization efforts and supports India’s broader energy security objectives.
The collaboration leverages Bharat Petroleum’s market presence and Sembcorp’s expertise in renewable energy. The initiative is expected to contribute substantially to India’s ambitions in the green hydrogen sector, fostering sustainable energy solutions and reducing carbon emissions in the refining process.
