Modern shrimp farming in India with integrated technology.
AquaExchange, an agritech startup focused on transforming India’s shrimp farming industry, has raised $8 million in a Series B funding round co-led by Endiya Partners and Factor Analytics, with participation from existing investor Accion Ventures. The funding aims to further develop its technology platform, which integrates IoT devices, AI models, financing, insurance, and market linkages for shrimp farmers.
Founded by Pavan Kosaraju, Hemasundar Dhavili, Kareem Mohammod, and Kiran Bandi, AquaExchange is building a full-stack technology platform for shrimp farming. The company’s approach involves deploying IoT-based power monitoring systems and other devices to collect real-time data from farms, which is then used to provide financial services and insurance products to farmers.
AquaExchange currently works across more than 71,000 acres of farms and with nearly 6,000 farmers. The company’s revenue reached ₹240 Cr in FY25, and it projects ₹275 Cr in FY26, with an EBITDA of approximately ₹9 Cr. While the company anticipates a small loss in FY27, it expects to achieve profitability in FY27 with projected profits of at least a couple of million dollars.
The company’s technology division, which includes predictive animal health monitoring and AI agents for data collection, contributes 13% of overall revenue in FY26, with a target of increasing it to over 25% by March 2027. AquaExchange has also expanded its operations globally, entering Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, and Madagascar.
AquaExchange’s strategy involves embedding technology directly into farms, combined with data-driven finance and supply chains, with the long-term vision of replicating this model across other animal-protein sectors, including fish, poultry, and dairy.
