Photocoupler for automotive SSRs in a manufacturing setting.
Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has released the TLX9920, a photovoltaic-output photocoupler designed for automotive solid state relays (SSRs). Volume shipments began March 17th. The new product comes in a thin, long-creepage-distance SO6L package.
The TLX9920 functions as a gate driver for high-voltage power MOSFETs in SSRs, facilitating high-voltage and high-current switching. A key advantage of SSRs is the elimination of physical contacts, thereby preventing wear and reducing maintenance requirements. The device complies with the AEC-Q101 automotive electronic component reliability standard, offering a high isolation voltage of 5000Vrms.
Applications for the TLX9920 include battery management systems, onboard chargers, inverters in automotive equipment, energy storage systems (ESS), and industrial power equipment. Toshiba emphasizes its commitment to enhancing reliability and technological innovation.
