India's counter-terrorism strategy 'PRAHAAR'
The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has launched ‘PRAHAAR’, India’s first comprehensive National Counter-Terrorism Policy and Strategy, according to DD News. The policy aims to establish a structured national framework to address evolving security threats, including cross-border terrorism, drone attacks, cyber threats, and organized terror networks.
The policy emphasizes a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and focuses on prevention, swift response, inter-agency coordination, and adherence to human rights. It outlines seven core pillars: prevention, swift response, capacity-building, human rights compliance, addressing radicalization, international cooperation, and promoting societal resilience.
PRAHAAR also details threat assessments, including global terrorist organizations, foreign-based elements, and the exploitation of digital platforms. It outlines mechanisms for intelligence-led operations, border security, critical infrastructure protection, and legal frameworks.
